For site owners
Take your site off the map.
Removing a domain deletes its rank, its spot on the map, its link words and every link we recorded to or from it. To show the site is yours, you add a short code to it.
algonotes.com
Use a different domainPut this code on your site
Do one of the three. We check them all when you send the request. The code
only works for algonotes.com.
Option A
Add a DNS record
For domains where you manage the DNS at your registrar or DNS host.
If your DNS panel adds the domain for you, use
_mapthenet-optout as the name.
New records can take a few minutes to show up.
Type
TXT
Name
_mapthenet-optout.algonotes.com
Value
mapthenet-optout=7ctrnwhf3krurnyh3xjwoa2g66z4yuqi
Option B
Upload a text file
For sites where you can add files, such as GitHub Pages, Netlify, Cloudflare Pages, Vercel, Neocities or your own server.
On GitHub Pages with Jekyll, add
include: [".well-known"] to
_config.yml so the folder gets published.
File
https://algonotes.com/.well-known/mapthenet-optout.txt
Contents (the code and nothing else)
mapthenet-optout=7ctrnwhf3krurnyh3xjwoa2g66z4yuqi
Option C
Add a meta tag
For sites where you can edit the theme or page template, such as Blogger (Theme, then Edit HTML) or a WordPress header plugin.
The tag only counts inside <head>.
The code in a post, a widget or a comment doesn't count, because
visitors can add text there too.

Inside <head>
<meta name="mapthenet-optout" content="mapthenet-optout=7ctrnwhf3krurnyh3xjwoa2g66z4yuqi">
If you can't do any of these, write to [email protected] with your address on the site, and we'll work out another way to confirm it's yours.
